The POWERgrass hybrid turf system offers both players and pitch organizers numerous advantages. In fact, one of these advantages is, without a doubt, the greater playing time available compared to a traditional natural grass pitch and even a synthetic turf pitch, especially when the environment is hot and humid: For us, "preparing a playing field" not only implies considering the performance of the pitch, but also ensuring a comfortable environment for players and spectators.
A natural grass field, due to its fragility, requires care and time to recover the natural grass, thus limiting the hours of use. In comparison, a synthetic grass pitch, although it requires less maintenance, may not offer the same playing comfort due to its stiffness and the heat emitted by the synthetic material on the hottest days, causing a decrease in usage time.
Taking these factors into account, the POWERgrass system guarantees up to 30 hours of play per week, i.e. a maximum of 1320 hours over the course of the competitive season, calculating for 44 weeks. This figure is at least triple the hours offered by a natural grass field, and certainly higher (where it is hot) or equivalent to those of a synthetic grass field.
In terms of durability, a POWERgrass hybrid grass field can last up to 15-20 years, double that of a traditional synthetic grass field, as long as correct maintenance is carried out. This considerably long period of time is due to the resistance and robustness of the POWERgrass system, which combines the positive aspects of natural grass and synthetic grass.
The natural grass, supported by the synthetic component, is more resistant to different climatic conditions and to continuous trampling, while the synthetic component, supported by the natural regeneration of the grass, is less abrasive and hot compared to a totally synthetic pitch. Additionally, natural grass offers protection to synthetic fibers both from exposure to the sun's UV rays, which can cause premature aging, and from wear and tear from the game. As a result, their resistance to time is significantly higher.
The duration and efficiency of the POWERgrass system may vary depending on the quality of the soil, the maintenance programs implemented and the measures taken to protect the field. However, with careful and responsible management, it is possible to guarantee continuous, efficient and sustainable use of the POWERgrass hybrid grass pitch for many more years, without the need for mandatory replacement of the pitch.
