An in-depth study of the agronomic part creates a favorable habitat for plants. Finally, a proper maintenance plan is necessary

Research and development is the result of studies, skills and experience acquired directly in the field!

Contrary to what many people think, to create a good hybrid turf system it is not enough to make a synthetic turf with lots of holes. In addition to the hybrid carpet, which has certain characteristics, an in-depth study of the agronomic part is needed to create a favorable habitat for the plants, which must benefit from the presence of the carpet. Finally, an adequate maintenance plan is necessary for each hybrid system, based on how it is suitable for the environment and the intensity of use you intend to make.

Football playing surfaces require years of research & development and the experiences acquired demonstrate that numerous innovations are not always decisive.

Over the last 25 years, several hybrid systems have been designed and offered to professionals to strengthen natural grass because they offer greater stability. Without a doubt, the greater stability is appreciated by the player to prevent dangerous holes from forming but, when the game becomes intensive, most hybrid systems tend to highlight their singular limitations. Some with the support partially closed offer poor ventilation of the roots so the natural grass deteriorates prematurely compared to a natural field. Others with deeply planted fibers harden rapidly and limit root penetration when the resistance of the sandy substrate exceeds 1500 kPa. In both cases, to solve the problem of aeration and hardness of the field, frequent holes are made which increases the cost of maintenance but also disturbs root activity in the growth substrate.

The POWERgrass system today is the only system in the world that offers a stable, soft pitch and greater traction where it is possible to play many hours on natural grass with reduced maintenance.

We are often asked why the POWERgrass system is so unique and so different from others. The Powergrass system is the result of a rich know-how from two completely different worlds which has led to the perfect union between natural and synthetic grass. In fact, the world of synthetic grass and that of natural grass are in constant "war" with each other and so far no one has developed a system in a 360-degree holistic way.

The main problem in designing an excellent hybrid system lies in the fact of combining the skills of technicians belonging to two different worlds, that of natural grass and that of synthetic grass.

Dr. Niko Sarris

Synthetic turf technicians have a partial vision but it is understandable because many do not know the advantages of playing on natural grass and have developed their own professionalism where managers are unable to grow natural grass. Some technicians believe that it is sufficient to accustom the new generations to playing on synthetic grass but the difference is evident when the player plays on well-maintained natural or hybrid grass pitches. Some have developed a hybrid system believing that it is sufficient to create a synthetic turf with many holes for the roots to pass through but the movement of water and air in the soil is a more complex aspect.

On the other hand, natural grass technicians are often against any synthetic or mixed system, denying it from the start or because they see it as a threat to their work as "experts". In fact, many have developed their professionalism making people believe that only they have the answers for the right maintenance, in the absence of competitors nearby.
