The POWERgrass hybrid field is accessible to everyone and easy to control

POWERgrass has designed a system in hybrid grass (mixed synthetic and natural grass) which has the same construction and maintenance costs as a synthetic field with a positive environmental impact because the natural grass expresses its maximum potential in the system, captures CO2, PM2.5 and PM10, produces oxygen and lowers the temperature. With constant ordinary maintenance, risks of damage from flooding and extraordinary maintenance costs are avoided.

With the right programming a qualified operator is able to maintain two 11-a-side football fields at a professional level. The owner can monitor and control because if the manager or operator does not carry out maintenance correctly, it is immediately noticed but it is also easy to intervene to correct any problem. At the end of the management period, the pitch does not require peremptory replacement because it is playable by continuing to grow natural grass.

The characteristics of the POWERgrass hybrid field can be summarized as follows because it offers multiple advantages regarding:

  1. the usability of the hybrid pitch for the needs of up to 30 hours a week for a squad of 22-25 players; furthermore, the system maintained regularly is able to prolong the useful life of the field without a peremptory limit for replacement;
  2. the simplicity in routine maintenance thanks to the absence of holes and the technological operation via a control unit with remote access equipped with soil and air probes to better understand how to manage water for irrigation, which is essential to make maintenance more efficient and save water;
  3. the professional management of the fields with the necessary environmental certifications, during the period of use and ordinary maintenance which, among other things, significantly reduces the risk of extraordinary maintenance;
  4. the hydraulic governance in the territory during heavy rainfall because it absorbs and retains water in the growth substrate aggregated by the hybrid mantle, thus mitigating the problem of soil erosion and water pollution due to the surface runoff of rain which is also responsible for landslides and flooding.

The system is designed for the circular economy with positive environmental impact, while at the same time promoting qualified employment in the territory because the system:

  • optimizes the use of industrial resources thanks to a long amortization period that exceeds 20 years; favors the use ofmineral resourcesthat can be reused countless times andrenewable natural resources;
  • reduces water evaporation thanks to the presence of a geotextile andwater requirements by preserving rainwater in its substrate and accumulating excess water in large tanks, thus reducing the use of drinking water from aquifers for irrigation;
  • offers ecological maintenance, capturing CO2 and fine particles and lowering the temperature thanks to the greater efficiency of photosynthesis because it optimizes growth conditions, favors soil biology and lengthens the productive photoperiod;
  • it does not produce waste during maintenance because the cutting residues produce compost while, at the end of the management period, the field is still usable continuing the cultivation of natural grass.
