Installation

It is not difficult to install the POWERgrass hybrid system

Installing a sports field requires expert personnel.

The installation in Sutton by the POWERgrass partner in the UK

In the common imagination it is thought that it is sufficient to level the land and sow the lawn, so that nature takes care of the rest. However, having to carry out a certain number of hours of sporting activities, often in the rain, modern sports fields are built on sandy substrates integrated with organic and mineral soil improvers. The POWERgrass system follows the same technology and includes a hybrid turf that allows more use of the playing field ensuring players maximum comfort and safety.

To exploit the maximum potential of the hybrid grass system, the installation must be entrusted to companies with experience in the installation of both natural grass and synthetic grass. The work vehicles must also work "lightly" on the existing soil and during the transport of the materials of the various drainage and plant layers.

During the construction phase, on any type of terrain, carry out the following operations:

  1. removal of the turf and subsequent leveling of the land with two or four pitch slopes,
  2. installation of a 24-sprinkler irrigation system for a regulation football field,
  3. creation of a drainage network with trenches connected to each other to channel excess rainwater up to the drain towards the sewerage network through the installation of a perimeter collector and drains arranged diagonally in the field area with drainage pipes filled with mill stone up to the top,
  4. laying of a layer of crushed stone from the mill for a uniform thickness of at least 80 mm,
  5. laying of a growth layer made with the mixture of silica sand and the ZOEsand soil improver, suitable for the growth of natural grass, for a homogeneous thickness of at least 80 mm,
  6. laying of the hybrid system with open support and stitching of the rolls together, then distribution of the elastic element and progressive filling with the silica sand mixture with the ZOEsand soil improver until a homogeneous thickness of approximately 35 mm is achieved,
  7. sowing with quality mixtures and fertilizations designed to promote biological activity in the soil and intensive maintenance for 4/6 weeks, i.e. until the natural grass is completely established.

During the installation phase of the POWERgrass hybrid grass system, care must be taken to ensure that a) the ground is well leveled and evenly rolled and the slope of the ground allows the water to flow towards the drains, b) bring the rolls of hybrid grass together and sew them, avoiding the formation of wrinkles, then lift the fibers trapped in the seams c) mix the sand with the soil improvers and then fill progressively the hybrid coat, carefully brushing and raking at each step to make the synthetic fibers protrude to the surfacepreventing them from being buried in the substrate.

Please note: It is imperative that synthetic fibers protrude to the surface to protect the crowns of natural grass.
